Pet Stains and Odors

What I know for sure is that if you have pets, at some point, you are going to have pet stains on your carpet. Whether it will be from an accident, illness or dirty paws, that remains to be unseen. For most of us, our biggest concern is not just getting the stain out, but the smell removed as well. It can be embarrassing and frankly, really annoying!

Sammamish Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning specializes in pet stain and odor removal.

The first step of our process is to locate the areas affected by the pets. We start with our deodorizing and cleaning process. Then if for some reason there is still an odor after a couple days, we will return and spray our enzyme deodorizer again or in more extreme cases, we will inject the carpet and padding with the deodorizer.

Sammamish Carpet Cleaning’s enzyme deodorizer isn’t just a cover-up product like you might find at the pet store or super market. Our product is designed to break down the bacteria and enzymes that create the smell. This can sometimes take up to 48 hours before the odors are gone completely. Our service guarantee covers pet odors and stains, so if after two days you still smell the pet odors, we will come back and re-apply the areas at no charge.

Whether your pet has an accident, or decides they want to mark an area, you may want to try to tackle this job yourself or at least, clean up the wet until Sammamish Carpet Cleaning arrives.

Here are the steps you can take for the best results. First, locate the soiled area. Getting rid of the odor is important so your pet won’t continue to return to his scent. You want to soak up as much of the liquid as possible using paper towels. Apply pressure with your foot to help get up most of the liquid. Next, you want to treat the area to remove the odor. You can apply a solution of 1 part white vinegar to 1 part water, saturate the area for 10 minutes and then soak up the liquid. Once the area is almost dry, apply baking soda and let sit for about 15 minutes then vacuum up.

Beware of using the over-the-counter pet stain removal products as many are soap based and just cover up the smell. The problem with these is that you will be unable to get out all of the soap thus leaving a residue that attracts dirt and causes stains to reappear.
